- Conclusion to lab 3-1 and graphing are due this week.  We begin planning and finish construction of the cereal box gravity coasters.  Models will be provided in class - Students are permitted to work on them at home if needed.  Quiz 5-1 on Friday will include a mastery check.

Week 9
- We are still working on Lab 4-1 but will complete our observation this week and move onto our first quarter 2 Lab 2-1.  Students must have their completed experimental design, materlas lists and methods for data collection done by 10/22.

Week 10
- We are finishing up Lab 2-1 this week.  Science fair is in full swing.  All students should be starting experimentation/data collection in the next week.  If you have not found a science fair project, or need help with design you need to see me ASAP!

October 22 - 26, 2018
Week 11
- We Data/collection gets extended time, and evidences will be acceptable (pictures, data tables, survey data).  We will complete the end of ther thermal labs with a thermal project SOS ICE.  Graphing and conclusions for the CO2 lab as well as notebook assessment 2-1.

October 29 - November 2, 2018
Week 12
- We Finishing up SOSICE this week and then focus work on population studies.  Girls vs. Boys - "The Best Test", we take a look at motor-skills and handeye coordination by gender.  Using proper sampling, and isolating variables.

Week 13
- We continue working in our population study this week.  Large amounts of data need lots of attention.  We focus in on error, and validity.  Science fair evidences are due Wednesday and projects are due in just under three weeks.

Week 14
- We will finish up our science fair model labs this week, and begin a new unit in Chemistry.  The main event (of course) is science fair and continued progress on student projects.  If stdents need assistance they only need ask!  Tutoring is Wednesdays 4:00 - 5.

November 19 - 20, 2018
Week 15
- With only two school days remaining before science fair results are due in class, we will spend this week reviewing conclusions and preparing for lab and building the final presentations.  Students should have grade sheets returned this week; parents ask to see your students grade sheets if they have not taken the time to share them with you.

November 26 - 30, 2018
Week 16
- We have a few days left before science fair projects will be presented in class.  This week will specifically focus on that task.  Students should all be finishing up results, graphs and reporting data for their power point presentations.  If you need assistance Wednesday is afterschool tutoring.

December 3 - 7, 2018
Week 17
- This week we wrap up science fair - for now.  Students will be asked to hold onto all of their work as we will be coming back to their work later in the year.  We have our first district TCT this week - students will recognize the format as we have been practicing it all year when we interpret lab results.

December 10 - 14, 2018
Week 18
- This is our last full week before the long winter break.  We conclude the semester with chemistry and the Electrolysis Lab.  Our final notebook assessment is this week, please prepare accordingly.  Friday's quiz will once again include elements from the periodic table (1-20) studying is not optional if you want to pass these assessments.

- We conclude the semester with our periodic table elements tests (1-25), completing our atomic models and a short measurements lab.

Week 20
- We will use our short week to get back into our routine and review the classroom expectations as well as do some goal setting.  Next week we return to chemistry and lab 3-1 (electrolysis).

Week 21
- Chemistry lab 3-1 (electrolysis) will involve one of the more hands-on lab series that we have completed thus far including building an apparatus for capturing reactive gases as well as safely testing those samples and identifying an elements charge.

Week 22
- We conclude chemistry this week with a review of the electrolysis lab conclusion and graph.  We begin ecosystems in a new ecology unit.  This week students will work in a lab simulator to understand the impacts of population change in an ecosystem.

Week 23
- We will finish up the eco-simulator lab, and then work on an application mystery to determine how limiting factors can help explain why changes in ecosystems occur.  Quiz on Friday.

- Our study of ecology continues with the conclusion of the Texas Mosquito Mystery presentations as well as the quiz we missed last Friday.  This week will be our second notebook assessment - be sure and have all your notebook work up to date.

Week 25
- We will wrap up the Texas Mosquito Mystery this week, and complete the second notebook assessment for the quarter.  Gradesheets are due back on Tuesday as I will be out of the office on Monday 2/11 for a doctor's appointment.  New lab starts Thursday (Tenebrio Lab) and we have our quiz as usual to wrap up the week.

Week 26
- I will be out Monday - Upon return we get right back into the Tenebrio Lab.  We will end the week with our 3-6 mastery review quiz.

Week 27
- A short week - Students score the TEnebrio Lab and then complete small group mini-lessons on biogeochemical cycles.  This week is the teacher's notebook assessment, students need to make sure they bring all their required materials to class.  Grade sheets go home Friday 2/22.
