Bryan Station Middle School / Cross Country

Dear Participants and Parent/Guardians,

Cross country is competitive, off-road, endurance running.  In its most basic form, it requires a runner to complete a timed race course over a number of different terrains ranging in distances up to 2.5 miles.  While teams with five or more members can score and compete as a team, individuals can compete for place against one another allowing all those who participate the opportunity to improve and succeed no matter their ability level.

Cross country beyond the running is a social sport that allows young athletes to grow physically, mentally and competitively.  Athletes that enjoy cross country are often characterized as being a little eccentric, intrinsically motivated challenge seekers who wish to test the limits of their own abilities.  Those that excel at cross country fall in love with the competition and the training that is necessary to compete at its elite levels.  Those that enjoy distance running in general will like cross country and the inspired group of enthusiasts that run, learn and grow together as a team.

For more information please visit our cross country website at the Bryan Station homepage - students > athletics > cross country.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  I look forward to the fall and the new cross country season.
